3 more weeks and Margots world will never be the same.I never did photos with a pregnant woman before but found it a great thing to do especially cause there is a lot more intimacy then with normal portraits and there is no discussing about the sujet cause the belly is the sujet itself.I found that analog images with very simple background and just a little bit of light, work out best.
By the way if anybody needs a decent Shiatsu treatment ,Margot will be available again if she can find a babysitter for Amelie :www.margotkowatsch.at

Touristing at..
November 23, 2009 · 4 Comments
Turning out completely different then i inteded it to be.Touristing at became somewhat of a challenge to me not only in technical ways.I always wanted to do a project with self representation (even though i feel slightly uncomfortable in front of a camera) and i thought the Aritst in Residence would be a good opportunity to portrait myself as a Tourist in Coimbra. At first i was planning to shoot the pictures myself with an external self release shutter but unfortunately it stopped working after one shot ,so i was more or less forced to ask the most embarrasing question i could imagine to others : Can you take a picture of me ? was the sentence i was going to ask on a daily basis .After the first pictures i found out that it wasn´t that embarassing to ask at all and for others it seemed to be something pretty natural that a Tourist needs a picture of himself posing in front of some national monument.During the first days i still tried to controll a lot of how the picture was taken and what should be inside of the frame. But after i saw the first results with fingers in front of the lens, pictures taken vertically instead of horizontally i felt it was very hard to describe to others what i see and that people had their own minds of what should be inside of the frame. I had quite a hard time in the first days to let go of that creative controll i otherwise have when i do the images myself but i came to see it as a coproduction with unpredictable results.I still consider it as an unfinished project because for me it still lacks the YES thats it feeling coming up normally after I´ve finished a project so i thought i will continue with asking others to take pictures of me.

“Hmong HW 09´10″
September 29, 2009 · Leave a Comment
Finally ! at least one tiny connection to my studies of cultural anthropology ….ok I could have done the shooting without knowing that Hmong refers to a ethnic group in South East Asia but it felt good to know that it wasn´t in vain.
Yesterday I had the great pleasure to do a shooting with Lisa Pek – a very creative young designer
“Hmong HW 09´10″
It is a collection with the theme of reflection of native people and modern living people….
Both lifestyles can learn from each other.
The cuttings are inspired of the clothes of these people, which are very simple made. simple like their thoughts, their lifestyle,….
life is a game of reflections… reflections of thoughts, lifestyles, ethical evaluates
“you life your life, but don´t forget of the life of others and enviroment”
positive energy just can spread if you see it, if you feel it… colours, energy, life
i tried to mix the style of mothern redused clothings and the clothes of the hmong culture to symbolize the thoughts of two lifestyles into one.
